Our MissionThe Plant High School Counseling Department is dedicated to providing a comprehensive program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. As professional school counseling leaders and advocates, the school counselors, college and career counselor, and the student success specialist collaborate with other educators, parents and guardians, and the community to promote the highest level of student achievement and prepare students for any post high school endeavor. Through our collaborative efforts, our students will acquire an intrinsic love of learning and make healthy life decisions leading to personal success and contributing to the betterment of their extended community.

2. Every student deserves equal access to rigorous academic course opportunities.
3. Every student deserves equal access to academic supports and mentoring opportunities.
4. Every student should graduate being prepared for college, employment, or other post-secondary education.
5. Every student should have an awareness of career fields and options.
6. All students are unique individuals who have the right to pursue their individual post-secondary path.

THE H. B. PLANT HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM WILL:
1. Collaborate as a team to promote student learning through developmentally appropriate goals.
2. Use data to drive decision-making and develop appropriate interventions and activities.
3. Promote student achievement through individual and group counseling activities.
4. Promote career planning and exploration through classroom lessons and assessments.
5. Help students learn the importance of college and other post-secondary opportunities and will help students navigate the college admissions process.
ALL SCHOOL COUNSELORS AT H. B. PLANT HIGH SCHOOL WILL:
1. Advocate for all students.
2. Bridge the gap between home and school and will involve parents, the community, and stakeholders when advocating for students.
3. Consider academic, ethnic, racial, and special needs when assisting students with academic and post-secondary planning.
4. Readily seek professional development opportunities that will help us contribute to establishing a strong comprehensive school counseling program.
5. Follow the American School Counselor Association professional ethics and incorporate counseling standards and competencies with fidelity.
