General Information
The Dual Enrollment Program is an opportunity to take challenging courses and to accelerate educational opportunities. Students who successfully complete dual enrollment courses will save time toward their college degree and save money with free tuition and free textbooks.
Eligibility
Students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Have a 3.0 unweighted grade point average
- Test Scores: pass the appropriate section of the Postsecondary Educational Readiness Test (PERT) or have the appropriate scores on the SAT or the ACT (not more than two years old).
- Permission from the parent/guardian and counselor. *Parent/Student Agreement Form from HCC Dual Enrollment Website
- Must have an understanding that the amount of work necessary to succeed in dual enrollment courses will be greater than in high school courses.
- Is dual enrollment right for me? *Remember that dual enrollment courses begin your "official college transcript", and those final grades are permanently part of your college transcript and college GPA.
Dual Enrollment Procedures

- DO I have a test score to submit with my HCC application in time for their deadline? *If no SAT or ACT score, students MUST register for the PERT test with HCC. This can ONLY be scheduled for free AFTER they apply for HCC Dual Enrollment. Click here for HCC PERT testing information
- APPLY FOR DUAL ENROLLMENT HERE
- Look up exactly what course, section number, and instructor you want using: Search for Classes | HCC (hccfl.edu) Ex: Course is ENC 1101 Section # is 5 digit course code. You can filter if you want online or in person
- Contact your counselor to receive signed Authorization Form B and a copy of your summary.
- Upload these forms using your HCC login in their Dual Enrollment Paperwork Submission System
- Once HCC has processed and approved your application, you will receive an email from them to register for courses.
- Register for courses by logging on to: MyHCC (hccfl.edu).
- Bring a copy of your DE schedule to your counselor to add DE course names to your schedule.
- Textbook Ordering: Visit the HCC DE website to follow NEW specific textbook ordering instructions.
- HCC will send an email to the student when course materials are ready to pick up at the HCC Bookstore.
Credits
Dual enrollment college credit will transfer to any Florida public college or university offering that course prefix and number and must be treated as though taken at the receiving institution. However, if students do not, upon high school graduation, attend the same college or university where they earned the dual enrollment credit, application of transfer credit to general education, prerequisite, and degree programs may vary at the receiving institution.

Course Selection
How to choose courses:
- Students may take up to 10 credits per semester. You can search for class sections available at HCC for the term you wish to enroll HERE.
- DE/college courses are all a semester in length. A student can choose to take 1-3 DE courses during each semester to have those periods off from school every day each semester.
- Students can choose academic core or elective courses based on their academic interests and can also meet high school graduation requirements. See Dual Enrollment Course-High School Subject Area Equivalency List
- Students can choose courses that will go towards the CORE GPA that will be factored into the college recalculated GPA.
- Students can choose courses that meet the college major requirements at the college he/she may attend.

Early Admissions
Early admissions is a form of dual enrollment. Students are admitted through the early admissions option of dual enrollment when they register at HCC as a full-time student for two consecutive semesters (12 credits each semester) during their senior year of high school.
